thanks a lot, it works!
do you know, is it possible to use 2 remotes on one receiver (MCE-receiver)?
the idea is to use the xbox remote too

Sure you can. You just have to append one more section "begin remote .... end remote" to /etc/lircd.conf. The section must define XBOX remote control and its codes. I'm sure you can get it from somewhere.
I tried this method and my remote does not work at all? I have a genuine Microsoft MCE Remote?
Hello,
This configuration seems to work with my Hauppauge RC6 remote..
[link to picture of the remote]
But, i have to use the tiny 'Enter-key' to select a menu in XBMC. (not so handy..
)
The 'OK-key' and 'Back-key' don't do anything.
Now i want the 'OK-key' to do the same als the 'Enter-key' is doing now: selecting a menu like Video or Music in XBMC.
And i need the 'Back-key' to work.. but is doesn't work (yet).
Please help
thank you!

I had exactly the same problem. However I am using Ubuntu with XBMC-standalone on top. I logged into a Gnome session and downloaded the LIRC GUI config program (do a search for lirc in Ubuntu Software Center). Once installed I selected 'Windows Media Center Remote' and 'Custom receiver'.
Once done all the relevant buttons now work (including the back button). I have the AIM MCE remote. You may well find your remote and receiver listed in the config - if not just use Windows MCE. HTH.
