Full Version: Remote Control Support for Android Auto (Rear Seat Entertainment)

Hi,

I've been searching a while for someone who has done the following project.

Given a car providing a wireless network and support for Android Auto, MirrorLink or Apple CarPlay.
Mount 2 random tablets (ios or android) to the headrests of a car and run Kodi on them.
So far, no problem.

Can I run Kodi on a 3rd android phone connected to e.g. Android Auto to remotely controlĀ
the rear seat entertainment via the Android Auto (or CarPlay, or MirrorLink) on the Car's native system?

I'm aware that running video while driving is a safety issue (and not what I'm looking for),
but selecting, pausing, etc. a video to be played in the rear seats is not.
In fact most car brands already provide similar solutions, but with rather limited support for different video formats.

I assume that a solution based on Kodi would be much more versatile,
if only there was an app that would provide remote control and integrate with today's car entertainment interfaces.
