I have been trying to get kodi v18 to work on my shield but had no luck. I see that some members here have it working. Do you mind share how you did it?

I have tried one of the v18 alphas (Not sure which one it was a while ago) beta 4 and nightly. I have also tried installing v17 and then updating to v18 with the kodi update addon. All do the same thing.
On first load it shows the kodi 18 setup. Once the progress bar completes it force closes. After that when ever I try to launch kodi it immediately force closes. If I wipe app data it will show the setup again but the issue repeats.

Am I missing something? IS there something special I have to do to get v18 to work on my shield? I'm really looking forward to the new v18 androidTV integrations.

It's been a day....Bump!

Please someone share how you got it working on shield!
I've also noticed on my Nvidia Shield that since the split off of the binary add-ons from the main Kodi installer which reduces it to half the normal size, nor the Kodi Installer add-on nor a manual  update will take effect.
The (new) update setup will result in an error and nothing is updated.

Something is wrong in the update proces.
Hi.

I downloaded from here

https://mirrors.kodi.tv/nightlies/android/arm/master/

And installed it with x-plorer. Never had problems to install kodi on My shield
Rick.  I've been downloading and installing since the beginning on my '17 Shield 16gb without a problem. I've kept <edit> an alternative 17.6 package </edit> on my Shield that I use if the Kodi nightly build doesn't work correctly.  You might want to completely uninstall the Kodi 18 you currently have installed before trying to install again since you are having problems.

Download the APK from Kodi's nightly build site referenced above. Shutdown Kodi 18 on the Shield if it is still running in the background.  Then load Kodi 18 APK on the Shield using ES File Explorer (on the Google Play Store.) You can find how to use ES File Explorer on the internet if needed.  This is how I do it anyway., might not work for everyone.

The most updated nightly build is RC1 (release candidate 1). You can tell the installed version here - System/System Info/About Kodi

Mod edit: please don't reference banned forks and addons. I know you're just trying to help here so I've simply removed the link.
For anyone having this issue I found the solution here...
