Full Version: MPAA ratings rather than TV ratings

When scraping movies with IMDb, a lot of movies now show TV ratings rather than MPAA ratings.
Probably because IMDb puts TV ratings first for certification and tmm only scrapes the very first one.
How about scraping first certification item that's not starting with "TV" instead since all TV ratings start with "TV-"?

Then for The Shawshank Redemption (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111161/reference) and The Fight Club (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0137523/reference),
it would scrape "R" rather than "TV-14" or "TV-MA".

Good idea. After each scrape, I have to look up the MPAA rating and change the movie.
I'd still like this issue to get addressed with IMDb scraper.

By the way I noticed a lot of movies are getting "Unknown" certification with IMDb scraper even though they have at least one:

Alice in Wonderland (1933)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0023753/reference

Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054698/reference

High Noon (1952)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0044706/reference

North by Northwest (1959)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053125/reference
Is it because the scraper considers historical ratings such as "Approved" or "Passed" as none for pre-1968 titles just like the way TMDb does with MPAA ratings?
