Hi All

Came on here to try and find a solution but in the process managed to find it myself with a little help from a previous post so just thought I'd add this and describe the fix in a little more detail for noobs like myself who might've come up against it.

The Problem:

Kodi (17.6) running on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS was freezing every time I'd adjust volume in full screen during playback. the problem seems to be cause by the Gnome interface popping up the fancy volume animation which doesnt co-operate with the full screen video playback of Kodi resulting in a system suicide...

The Fix:

Disable your Volume up , Volume Mute and Volume Down shortcut keys in the keyboard settings in Gnome Settings Menu.

1. Go to Settings>Devices>Keyboard

2. Scroll down to "Sound and Media"

3. Click on "Volume Up" and hit Backspace to reset the keyboard shortcut.

4. Click on Set which should have now appeared in the top right corner of that window

5. Do the same for "Volume Mute" and "Volume Down"

6. Exit settings, fire up Kodi and play your media in full screen, Test volume up and down from your keyboard or remote.

Kodi should now be the boss of your audio control rather than Gnome.

Hope this helps

Cheers!
Could you please share a Debug Log. I'm curious about something
