*hold button on VIDEO_TS folder and select Play It plays the main menu but it freezes! You can't select any option! I tried 3 different DVDs on a MiBox
To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

FYI... Greetings are not the same thing as providing a debug log (wiki) with which we possibly can solve the DVD mystery.

Mistery?

No....

Simply remove the PR #15263 and everything works again.

Based on latest master (20199292):

Sorry for my ignorance but was is PR #15263 ?
This PR: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/15263 are you sure? I rather suspect another one enabling mediacodec by default for DVD because some guys loudly screaming :-)

Try the apk from link above which has been built w/o the PR  #15263. I mean this one:

https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/15263

Honestly I don't know why is causing the problem
I have just verified that the issue has been introduced starting from  nightly build kodi-20190116-6733f379-master-armeabi-v7a.apk.

I checked the commits between this verision and the  kodi-20190115-3b2bb11d-master-armeabi-v7a.apk (which is the last one working) and suspected that PR which is on Android.

Tried to build w/o and it work.

Bye
Oh! I know the problem! IsCurrentStream does not seem to work.

Can you post a Debug Log please with the non working version?

All logs taken from a fresh install on latest nightly build  kodi-20190202-bf6bc524-master-armeabi-v7a.apk with default settings.

https://paste.kodi.tv/atuxudoxil  -  Fire TV Stick (no 4K)

If you need can provide the log also on the Minix Neo U1.
