I want to dual boot windows xp and linux.
So latest version of linux or ubuntu?
well if you go to their websites it tells you the latest version to download
but its 8.04

Easiest way is too install windows xp first at one hdd (partition) and then ubuntu at another one .. Ubuntu will scan for other os's and include them in the grub-manager ..
With 8.04 hardy you can mount or burn the iso and then install as an app in windows and it then dual boots using the windows boot loader. If it all starts to go wrong with Linux which for me it it inevitably duse. You can uninstall through add and remove programs in windows, without damaging your windows installation
