I recently upgraded to a newer, faster android box and everything is good except in this new one if I stop play on a tv show or movie and shut everything down Kodi is not remembering the place(s) I left off at. It shows the check-mark for the watched shows but not the in progress points I need to restart at, which my old box did automatically. Any ideas? Both boxes ran/run the latest version. Many thanks for any help on this issue.

Resume points are stored in the video database in the 'bookmark' table. Watched statuses are stored in the 'files' table, also in the video database.
So either your video database got some corruption, or something else funky is going on.

How about providing Kodi's debug log (wiki) for starters?
