I'm having real issues with kodi 18.2 on my Nvidia Shield, whenever I play any content from my NAS the video and audio freezes then playback stops shortly after starting to play (around 30 seconds or so)

My log file is here : http://paste.kodi.tv/dirucibizi

I've tried disabling hardware acceleration, but it makes no difference

Apparently your log file is infested with quite a large number of repositories and add-ons that facilitate video piracy.
As per our forum rules (wiki) you can either start with a totally "clean" setup and see if the problem(s) still arise, or you can find your support from wherever you downloaded these add-ons.

For now, support to your problem is totally halted.

Thank you, I'd been meaning to clear all that crap out any as I never use it! Having done a clean install the problem is still there however Sad

I've done a bit more playing with this to try and see what's happening. I played https://4kmedia.org/into-the-cave-of-won...d-4k-demo/ from the NAS with a completely fresh install of Kodi to test. within a few seconds the video and sound froze, but the playback didn't stop, 2 minutes or so later playback jumped to the point it would have been at and continued with both sound and video for a few more seconds. The pattern repeated until the video ended.

I notice a lot of ActiveAE - large audio sync error:  and guess this is what's causing the issues, can anyone point me in the direction of a fix or some help?

Thanks in advance
Code:
Video Info:

Resolution : 3840 x 2160
File size : 785 MB
Duration : 00:08:55
Format : MP4
Codec : H264
Overall bit rate : 12 Mb/s
Bit depth : 8 bits
Frame rate : 24 fps

4K h264 is not a very common combination. I'll try and test it on my Shield tomorrow, and create a h265 version for comparison.

In fairness the codec seems not to matter, this is happening on every single video I've tried
Same problem with the LG demo from the links provided as kodi test files : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwxFVkl...taVm8/view

I get the no audio issue, with this file, not concerned about that, but again same problem with an x265 codec

Disable passthrough, set speakers to 2 channels and provide a new log for the same file, please.

With pleasure Smile

Disabling MediacodecSurface in that combination (still 2 channels, PT disabled) makes it work, right? (Leave alone some stuter, that you will see from the SW decoding).
I just tested from my NFS server your 4K mp4 file on my simple Shield TV (v7.2.3) setup, no AVR, just the TV, and I didn't notice any stuttering throughout the video. Sorry.

Perhaps you have a network throughput problem?

That is odd, thanks for all your help, I will keep investigating...
