Example. Root folder looks like this

TV Shows
-Angie Tribeca
--Season 01
---Episodes
--Season 02
---Episodes

However, if it unsorted files end up in the root folder
TV Shows
-Episodes

it seems to not scrape the root and those files, just get ignored. Is there a way to scrape the files in the root source folder and have them put in the folders they belong in?
No.
For TV shows, the minimum work for you is, to put them at least in correct TV show folder.
There are simply too many ways to identify the files wrong, and we better do nothing, in favor of doing something wrong....

No.  Have you read the wiki?
Naming video files/TV shows

Name everything correctly (same as the scraper you use) and organise files as per the wiki and scraping should be straightforward.
Don't and it won't be.
That's true if you're using kodi's own scrapers or any media manager.
Hey, it's not impossible. FileBot has NO problem with it. Sounds like laziness on the part of the coders. Which is fine, I am not blaming them. Just saying, it's very much POSSIBLE. It's a CHOICE to not do it.
