Full Version: Why can't we get a screen saver that works in seconds vs minutes?

Owning an OLED and constantly pausing movies/tv shows is creating a risk of burn on the TV.  Even set at it's lowest number of 1 minute overtime will cause a burn in.  I can see the pause screen on my 10yr old plasma which I recently retired.

The devs should not be so stubborn over such a simple change.  We need a screen saver than can be controlled in seconds or minutes.  Or at least give us an option for 10,20 or 30 seconds.
I think you're worrying too much but if it's really a problem you could switch to a skin that fades the pause screen after a few seconds. fTV for example.
I don't have any problem with a fast-acting screen saver, but I've been running a Sony A1E for coming up on a couple years I guess and no BI that I see (but I don't throw up grayscales and look for issues either).

The skin is actually controlling the time?  Is there a way to modify the default skin?
Your OLED TV should not experience any burn-in in that situation at all.  It's not a plasma.
Great run down on burn in tests for OLED TV's, an ongoing test with static images for over 88 weeks TVs will stay on for 20 hours per day, 7 days per week, running test pattern in a loop and only now starting to show some signs, and included a yellow 'I' in the Rtings logo. a minute without screen blanker isn't going to be a killer, if nothing showed up in the tests for 7 days.

The fluff article is in reference to OLED TVs, malfunctioning cloth driers, and in general an attack on high prices and low warranties. You can choose to believe this print without a lot of 'research' or choose to believe your eyes with the RTing link that specifically targets burn in. 09/07/2018 It has now been one year since we started the 20/7 burn-in test and the TVs have each been on for more than 7000 hours.

A huge industry that wishes OLED would go away and are fueling these arguments, with little research to back them up and don't seem to contradict the RTings findings.  A final note: LCD's also exhibit burn in, but so did CRT's back in the day, one sure fix is keep them turned off Smile
