Hi there,

I have installed Ubuntu 18.04 minimal with xfce (not xubuntu) and then kodi via ppa

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa
sudo apt-get install kodi

Now if I boot my machine the lightdm greeter is displayed and can select kodi session, enter my password and start kodi. But I'm wondering (and trying to figure out since approx. 2 hourse) how to autologin into kodi. I have tried to create an /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf (doesn't exist in the first place) and also to alter /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/60-xubuntu.conf with a "user-session=kodi", but i didn't work so far. Can you help me out? Is there a simple way to autologin?

Thanks
Hiya.

Are you using openbox?

These are the steps I took to effect autologin

cd ~/

wget -O openbox-kodi-master.zip https://github.com/lufinkey/kodi-openbox...master.zip

unzip openbox-kodi-master.zip

cd kodi-openbox-master

bash ./build.sh

sudo dpkg -i kodi-openbox.deb

sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf

#insert this into the file and ctrl+x and Y to save

[Seat:*]
autologin-user=kodi
autologin-session=kodi-openbox

sudo shutdown -r now

No, I'm not using openbox, I'm using xfce.

Create a lightdm.conf file for the autologin and then use a xfce autostart file to start Kodi.

/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
[Seat:*]
autologin-guest=false
autologin-user=kodi
autologin-user-timeout=5

~/.config/autostart/kodi.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=Kodi
Comment=Kodi
Exec=kodi
StartupNotify=false
Terminal=false
