Arch Linux provides kodi-gbm and kodi-x11 and I want to test the two of these. I noticed that kodi-gbm idles on at the home screen around 18% but kodi-x11 idles on the exact same home screen around 2% so I am naturally wondering why? I read that gbm is directly accessing the hardware but x11 goes through another layer of hardware so 9x more CPU seems wrong to me.
