I m having a rough time making True Hd working on kodi and the mibox 3 whicj should be true hd compatible and may need your help!
My hardware configuration is as such :
Mibox 3 with latest updates plugged into hdmi in of LG SJ9 soundbar (atmos compatible).
And i'm running on Kodi 18.3.
Mibox 3 is set to "auto" In sound mode and Line .
So far on Kodi i cannot see the option in passthrough section for allowing true Hd passthrough. I m seeing this.

Oh and precision : classic dolby audio works.
Check in Android Oreo > audio setting you have HDMI selected.
Might have to enable Advanced or Expert mode in Kodi Audio settings, bottom left of screen.
Otherwise reboot Mi Box and ensure audio receiver is turned On before you do in future.

1. Well in the mi box setting, sound output is
set at auto (only have pcm or auto option in the mi box)
2. In kodi as shown in my screenshot expert mode is activated and i have some passthrough option (dd,dd+ and dts) but no true hd.
3. I also try to boot everything in correct order : i tries booting tv then sj9 soundbar then mibox. But still no true hd option appears.
Are you sure this Soundbar supports anything besides DTS / AC3 and LPCM?
Manual even states that it is limited to 96 khz:

Ok so true hd works on a blueray player.
Anybody knows why even the option does not appears in kodi?
Quite simple: We try to open it, but it fails for every API Android provides.
More concrete:
On startup, kodi tries to open an audio sink with:
AC3, DTS, EAC3, TrueHD, DTS-HD -> RAW_FORMAT
IF IEC format is support it tries IEC-2 channel (DTS, AC3), if additionally 192 khz is supported it tries E_AC3, if additionally 8 channels IEC is support it adds TrueHD, DTS-HD
Kodi remembers all the succesful opened sink formats and adds them to a list. You see that in your log which test was succesful.

Hum i begin to understand and can see that in my log only up to Dd+ channel. No true hd have been successfully openned.
DTS HD failing is normal as my soundbar is only compativle atmos/trueHD
That means that for my issue is that kodi failed to sink true HD either raw or IEC format. If the soundbar work corrctly with a blueray and true hd that means that problem is within the mibox 3 and the android version in there which cause the truehd sink to fail right?
It's not a kodi problem, kodi cannot do anything at all, it just asks Android to open a TrueHD sink and Android does not want it - try to ask your box vendor for an upgrade.

So i tested to downgrade the mibox 3 to a previous firmware (8-0-2167) then installed kodi 18.3 and it worked, i have the true HD passthrough option available and it worked perfectely.
Even if the bow i'm guessing xiaomi remove the true hd codec compativility in their last build.
In conclusion the last mibox3 updates are not compatible with true hd.

Wow~ What a great news! Mibox3 with old firmware is capable to have true-HD passthrough, how about ATMOS?
Same for atmos with the previous fw the mi box has no issue playing it.
