I've been running the Retroarch 1.177.14 add-on with LibreElec 9.0.2 (Kodi 18.2) on a RPi 3B and initially all was well. I could switch back and forth between Kodi and RetroArch, navigate the frontend UI with a game controller, install cores and play games. Life was good.

Then, two days ago, games suddenly only ran slowly, haltingly and with lots of jittering. When I checked to see if any settings had inadvertently been changed I noticed that the background music that normally plays in the user interface (this one: https://www.emulator-zone.com/gallery/em...isc/01.jpg) also played haltingly with frequent interruptions (think half a second of sound followed by a quarter second interruption). Rebooting the RPi didn't help.

I left it because I didn't have time for trouble shooting right then. This morning when I switched from Kodi into RetroArch all I got was a text mode screen (this one: https://www.libretro.com/wp-content/uplo...bels-1.gif) and nothing I do seems to get me back to the original graphic UI. I tried to reset the configuration to the factory default using the text mode UI but the only thing that did was to freeze the UI until I powercycled the Pi and I'm still stuck in text mode.

What could have caused this and what might I try to do to try and fix it?
