Full Version: Weird Quicktime behavior on Fire Stick 4k (Video stretched)

I'm having an oddly specific problem with Quicktime video files (Apple iTunes trailers) not displaying properly on my Fire Stick 4k. No matter what the resolution of the video, it will display as a full 16:9 frame with the picture stretched vertically.

So far I've gathered the following information:
  • Changing the view mode doesn't do anything.
  • If I remux the MOV file to a Matroska file, it plays correctly.
  • It displays correctly if HW acceleration is turned off.
  • Problem seems to be specific to the Fire Stick 4k as I could not reproduce the problem on a Fire TV pendant/Windows/Nexus player.

I would appreciate any help I can get on this matter.
I have the exact same problem with the exact same device. On Leia as well as Matrix nightlies. In my case this is iTunes trailers streamed through the Cinemavision add-on.

Oddly, when I download the same trailers from the apple trailers site, they play back fine in Kodi. Fwiw when downloaded they save as m4v extension.
