I have been using Kodi for a long time and all of a sudden it cannot connect to the internet starting about a week ago even though there is no change made to anything. System Information -> Network says that Internet is not connected even though my Mac can connect to the internet without a problem. I can browse the internet fine. I also have another computer with Windows 10 that has Kodi and on the same home network and it works just fine. The Kodi network connection problem only occurs on this Macbook. Firewall is turned off. Bottom line is that the network is not the problem. I read some threads that DNS service might be an issue. Changing from my ISP to Google DNS to VPN does not resolve the problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Kodi and it still persists.

Kodi 18.4 Leia Log file. Updating to 18.5 still the same problem.

If it were a full DNS problem (via your router), then the other computers in your network would be affected as well.
Changing a DNS entry in your router(?) to something as a VPN is a bit illogical to me.
Still, how about simply changing the DNS entry to another DNS server first, like 1.1.1.1 or Google's backup DNS 8.4.4.8 as the main DNS address?

Yes, I would agree that DNS ought not to be the problem but I was trying anything I could find on Google about this issue. I also changed the DNS on my local Mac where the Kodi is installed to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4) or the ISP default router via Gateway, it did not solve the problem. Note that throughout this time, the internet connection on my Mac works just fine.
I can access
http://www.msftncsi.com/ncsi.txt and
http://www.w3.org/ on my browser. No problem with those links.
Chrome, Firefox, Safari all work fine. I can watch Netflix. Kodi is the only one not connecting on this particular computer. Kodi on another computer (Windows) works just fine so the router should be okay.

Do you ever figure this out? I seem to be having similar problems with Kodi on my Nvidia Shield. Quitting Kodi and launching again fixes the issue. But very often it wouldn't connect the first time.
