Whenever I watch silent cinema I prefer to select the accompanying music myself. Is it possible for Kodi to output video from the film but audio from my music collection?
If not, how would I work around?
I've had both video and some music play at the same time, but I suspect something was amiss a bug caused it. I think there was some effort for this with an audio mixer add-on many moon ago,

doubt it still works". Using direct sound, you can have system audio gliffs on your PC while Kodi is playing a video which would suggest that something like this is possible. Best suggestion which I know will work is to use something like
MakeMKV (wiki) and encode whatever music you like, done in less than 5 minutes.
A post in feature requests might garner interest in this subject.
Not possible currently as different playback engines are used for music and video, and it's not possible to run 2 playback engines at the same time.
