Was using ver 17.6 for a long time and recently switched to Leia, but the issue persists.
When I Update Library it is stuck on Preparing.
However if I go to my sources and Scan For New Content it updates my library immediately.
Any thoughts on this?

Good nuff, I would like to inject the idea that the best form of back-up ant has persisted from almost the first versions of Kodi is the export to separate files function which puts all the meta-data beside each movie. Makes a fresh library re-scan quick and easy.
