Hi

I recently installed kodi on my raspberry pi 3. It works great, but all sound via the 3.5mm jack, seems to have a constant crackling noise. Are there some settings I can try to eliminate or minimize this?

Thanks already!
The analog sound output on the Raspberry Pi 0-3 is not the strongest part of those devices... It's inherent to the design.
Maybe something changed for the better with the RPi4, but I have a feeling it is still not at the top of the agenda of the Raspberry Pi people.
I don't have that device personally, but you could work your way through this list https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pul...leshooting
I've read indeed that the analog output sound on a raspberry pi is not ideal.
I've been looking for an external usb soundcard add-on, but they can get expensive.

My best guess would be to get something like this, since the sound on hdmi is good:

HDMI to HDMI + DAC / SPDIF converter

This might come in handy for other applications later.
In any case, sound is not the same as music - you'll probably get better advice in a Linux-centric section.
try one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/JustBoom-Digita...B01M8NQE4E

there are various flavors of them depending on whether you need spdif, rca, headphones etc
It is not my target to have excellent sound quality, I just want sound without the continuous crackling noise.

Thanks for your responses!
Are you sure that the audio plug is plugged in properly? Bad contact with audio cables/plugs will get you crack(l)ing noises.
Rotate the plug a couple of times when it's plugged in, perhaps you'll notice some difference.
