I followed the steps to generate those 3 keys.
Started my media player, enter youtube addon settings, switched OFF "use developer keys" and switched ON "enable personal keys".
Then entered 3 keys. (man, doing that with the IR remote and onscreen keyboard, was more than 10 mins!).
Pressed Ok, and it works!
And indeed, no need to login to youtube.

I never login on Kodi either.  I just use it as a cast receiver from any of my devices.  I gave trying to enter those keys in the UI and just did it in the terminal.  

As an aside, is there a way to paste something into the Kodi UI?  
Easier if you just edit the settings file on your player from your PC via network: \Userdata\addon_data\plugin.video.youtube\api_keys.json 

I just added my credentials to the file in the Kodi install on my Linux desktop in Nano and copied the modified file to my Raspberry Pis running LibreELEC using SSH.
Hi,

Was wondering if someone could confirm sending JSON-RPC commands to this plugin works?

I've tried sending a curl command but no video plays and the logs are not clear on whether or not JSON-RPC is supported.

helloo all 

i have been using the YouTube add on in its vanilla configuration since i have been using xbmc. recently i have updated to 18.5 and all worked well on all my machines until Tuesday night.

now i get an error to configure the add on and that project 294899064488 the project is scheduled for deletion.

i uninstalled the YouTube add on and re-installed the latest version it to no avail.

what happened and what should i do?

Read back over the last few pages for an explanation of the current situation and what you should do (personal API keys, also see the first few posts of this thread).
i may be wrong with this how safe is this addon could it have been hijacked ?

i tried both links to no avail both said page not available. I do not use my htpc to surf strange websites nor do i use it to read mails. so how can it be hacked?

what should i do with the code you provided?

Those are NOT malicious, and are owned by Google. They are oauth scopes, see https://developers.google.com/identity/p...oglescopes

Looks like addon problem with google. The author hopefully can take care of it

Am getting the same error. So is this normal for everyone? Is the addon have problems and this is something the author needs to fix?  
Same problem here. Haven't been using API though. I guessing the author will need to fix it. OMG!

i have read the above posts, and tried to follow the links with no results. i am not a programmer nor an IT savvy person. As i go to the links i get to a dashboard with no reference to the steps mentioned. beginning to be frustrated with this process. 

Can some one please assist

Don't know if posted or mentioned so far, but here is an easy and temp fix for now

Click on 'settings'  -> add-ons -> my add-ons -> video add-ons -> YouTube.

Click the 'configure' button.

Highlight 'API' on the left.  You will now see some settings on the right.  Turn OFF 'Enable personal API keys' if it is enabled. A setting called 'Use preset API key set' will appear.  Click the up/down arrows until it says '5'.  Click OK.  Enjoy you-tube until that set of keys are disabled.

Same problem here, for all "real world users" I suggest marking this addon as broken.

Everything looks fine in the dashboard. The API key is enabled. I waited half an hour already, but every time I start the youtube addon I get that error now.
Did I forget something?

Answering to my own question...
Always create a new project in the google dashboard. I used an old project and google automatically reduces the quota to 0 after a period of inactivity without the ability to increase it.
I got it working now.
