Sorry for the late reply, I keep loosing notifications for this thread.

No, the add-on does not support any on demand 4K content at the moment.

(2020-09-08, 19:33)CaptainT Wrote: [ -> ]That problem was reported on GitHub yesterday for some episodes of Battlestar Galactica. The cause is that some programmes currently do not contain any streams using the mediaselector the add-on is based on. Nothing I can do there at the moment except switch to a different mediaselector all together. I'd like to try and sit this one out. If the mediaselector is really being discontinued, I have an alternative available.
I've been using 3.0.49 alpha2 since my reply to this thread on 3rd August but unfortunately there has been no improvement.
Since these issues began, I have encountered one notably unusual behavior. Setting up for live TV using Dash with Limelight and with stream selection set to manual, two streams are listed that do not have either a Akemai or Limelight descriptor.
E.g. for BBC1 the available  listed streams look like this:
BBC1 - Akemai
BBC1 - Limelight
BBC One -
BBC One - Akemai
BBC One - Limelight
BBC One -

Funny thing is, only the two streams missing the descriptor will play and those are of very low quality (are they perhaps Bidi streams?).
As previously mentioned, for the past couple of months live TV Limelight streams throw the "Not in UK" error while Akemai streams have never played for me.
I can replicate this behaviour on a Pi4 running Kodi 18.6 under Raspbian, Pi3 with OSMC and an Android TV with Kodi 18.8 installed
Browser based iPlayer works fine.
I'd be happy to test a version using the alternative mediaselector if that option becomes available.
I have the same situation but only when looking at live streams. I tried version alpha3 with no luck.
Limelight does not work and keeps saying that i cannot see BBC outside the UK but that's not true.
Here is the log:

Thank you.
Sounds like Akamai thinks you are not allowed to access the stream. Error 403 ist clearly "Access forbidden". See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_403.

As long as the 4K content is not available on the website iPlayer: no. Currently only smart TVs get 4K in demand. They are using a totally different system based on HbbTV, which is incompatible with the way the add-on (and the website) works.
Hi,
just to report a minor glitch in the 3.0.48 and 2.5.55 plugin. "Surgeons: at the edge of life" doesn't show up in the Programme list A-Z but does so when doing a search or browsing Highlights->Collection: Documentaries

Thank you very much for your reply. I'll try to investigate why. I can access without problems from windows 10 from my network through the BBC iPlayer website.
Very strange. If you think of anything I can do let me know please. Thank you again.
Just to ask if you will be adding support for Kodi 19 as I can't see anything on your GitHub pages or the kodi 19 addon test repo?

Also just to mention that the forum thread URL listed on your GitHub page and your Kodi addon page both reference a dead link: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=239378

Thanks

Great question, I only use a handful of addons and without BBC & ITV I think I'll be stuck on 18 forever! Two great addons for UK users, it would be such a shame if they were lost.

There are some attempts to bring the add-on to Python 3 compatibility. However, I have currently no plan to provide a new branch for 19.

If you want to give it a try, you can test the latest development snapshot of the krypton branch on GitHub.

Thanks for the pointer. Will update that with the next release.

Apart from YouTube which I only have installed for trailers, this is the only video addon I still use in Kodi.
It will be a shame if it doesn't work in Kodi 19, however I am very grateful for the many years of use I have had from this addon and can't thank @CaptainT enough for it,
but I fully understand that he may not want to put the effort into rewriting it again.

Thank you for your suggestion CaptainT.

I downloaded plugin.video.iplayerwww-revert-332-krypton.zip from GitHub and tried to install it on a test system I've been running on a RPi3 with Libreelec (community): nightly-20201121 (Kodi19.0-BETA1 18.9.801)

It failed and returned "The dependancy on xbmc.python version version 2.25.0 on could not be satisfied"

Any more thoughts?

Thanks
PS: I just tried altering addon.xml to:

<requires>
    <import addon="xbmc.python" version="3.0.0"/>

But it returned:  addon failed to installl from zipfile due to an invalid structure

Thanks. That means it won't be possible to have a compatible version which works pre-19 and on 19. Annoying.

This installed okay for me (on Matrix). Can go into iplayer add-on and see top level menu "iPlayer: Highlights" etc. But every entry returns me to same menu.
