Full Version: removing orphaned artist names and wrong thumbnails

Following the recommendations going back to the "Kodi 16.0 beta 3 – Jarvis is getting ready #3" release notes, I've been re-tagging my music library using MusicBrainz Picard and the results so far within Kodi aren't appearing as tidy as I would like.

Firstly, the album cover for Minority Report is appearing as the artist thumbnail on many artists.  Let me repeat that for emphasis: Many artists.  I could get-info and fix this one-by-one but I'd like to know if there's a faster alternative.

Secondly, this mangled spelling of Ennio Morricone is stuck in the Kodi library, despite having no songs attached to it.  How do I clear that out and other orphaned artists like him?

I have the Library Auto Update plug-in installed to update and clean the library every 12 hours.  So cleaning of the library isn't fixing either issue -- the repeated wrong thumbnails or the orphaned artists.  I mention this because "clean the library" is the observed oft-repeated suggestion for these types of problems.

Other details:  I have mySQL setup so that multiple instances of Kodi can access the same library info for music on my NAS.  One instance on Windows runs the Library Auto Update plugin while another Kodi instance on Shield plays the music from the updated library.

That must be about 5 years old at least. Didn't raise any warning bells for you?

Always check the wiki first... https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Create_Music_Library

There is also a sticky thread in this forum that summarises some points of the wiki guide... https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=341179
When trying to clean artists ALWAYS look at the role->all contributors library node.
