I've recently purchased this 2020 model TV and I'm curious to know which SoC it has. How would I find this out from the Android TV interface please? Will I need to install an app to give me the information?

I don't intend to run Kodi on the TV having read about the various issues with MediaTek h/w on these sets, but I am curious to see if anything has changed since last year's AG8.

Thanks.
Thread moved to hardware
Could install Kodi, check Information (under Settings) to find out, then remove Kodi.

Install the Aida64 App

The A8H is a big upgrade in the CPU/GPU department from the A8G since it has the newer MT5893 SoC (Quad-core Cortex-A73 @ 1500Mhz with Mali G71 GPU).  Only downside of running Kodi on that TV will be that you can't output HD audio codecs to your soundbar or AVR, other than that Kodi will work flawlessly (and even the HD codec issue isn't a Kodi issue, its a Sony issue).
Thank you very much for the info and link! I will have a go at installing the Aida64 just for my own interest seeing as the SoC is already known. Smile

Just curious, I guess you can't output HD audio codecs over optical or HDMI?
Of course the main issue is network speed as it's still only 100Mb Sad

Netflix speed test maxes out at 85Mbps on ethernet and 103Mbps on wifi (I have 350Mbps broadband).

Has anyone tested USB Ethernet adaptors on these TVs?  I wonder if the drivers are included in the Android build...

I guess it wouldn’t be worth it. From what I’ve read, faster than 100 mb is needed if you want to play Atmos TrueHD files, but the TV can’t pass that via eARC to the amp anyway.

I guess if you have UHD BD rips that you don't want to have to remaster - then even if you don't get Atmos True HD on the TV, you'll get the lossy core (or if eARC supports  Multichannel PCM, a lossless decoded 5.1/7.1 version without Atmos?) ?

I guess the bigger question is whether the Sony SoC and Android TV build now support frame rate switching, or if it runs Andrdoi TV apps permanently in 59.94Hz.
@jarrah31 What model do you have exact?
I have the Sony AG9 TV and have installed Kodi on it and that is working great.

Is this model doing proper Frame rate switching?  (For those of us in Europe - 'working great' has to include properly handling 25/50Hz content as well as 29.97/59.94Hz, and ideally playing 23.976/24.000 cleanly without having to use MotionFlow to enable 3:2 removal)

Previous Sony Android TV models have been stuck at 59.94Hz in all Android TV apps.

It is working all fine on the latest Sony Android TV’s.
Also HD audio is working fine on TV and passthrough with Kodi on it.

I guess frame rate switching only works in Kodi - not Neflix, Prime etc. - as I don't think they've rewritten their Android TV apps to do it?

On my Sony Android TV the only apps that work correctly with 50Hz content are the HbbTV ones.
