Full Version: Creating a Menu Item for an additional Audio Source

This could apply to many skins but this seemed to be the correct forum section in which this post should fall initially.

I have successfully converted many reel-to-reel recordings to .mp3 files using "Audacity" and have copied them to the /var/media/Music sub-directory on the Hard Disk connected to my 'Raspberry Pi' running 'LibreElec'. They all playback when selected BUT accessing them from the "Music" menu item on the "Home" screen is NOT desirable. I wish, therefore to access them from a 'new additional Menu item' entitled "Audio Tapes".

How can I do this?

Step by step instructions preferred but I am reasonably familiar with the current Kodi 18.7 Leia Interface using the Estuary Skin.

Thank you for any help
Please read here... Custom home items (wiki)

Extra main menu items in Estuary require you to edit the skin files. Choosing another skin will allow you to more easily create extra menu items.

Many thanks for your prompt response but it would seem that NEW menu items can only be added to the default LIBRARIES (Movies, Videos or Pictures). As per the instructions for "Aeon Nox Silvo" Skin to create a new menu item under "Videos".

I completed this, however and found that the Playlist i created ( displaying ONLY the existing Movies. Is there any way that a NEW LIBRARY can be created?

I am not really quite sure what you are asking. Why would you need a second library? You could always use Profiles (wiki) and create a second user which uses a completely new library, but you could also separate your content in one library using Smart Playlists. Especially for Music as it is very flexible.

Explain with more detail exactly what you are trying to do, and maybe I can find another solution for you.
