Full Version: Some Videos Just Have a Scrambled Picture

Kodi 18.8  - Clean Install
Windows 8.1 x64
Intel Pentium CPU G4600 @ 3.60GHz Kaby Lake
Intel HD Graphics 630 iGPU / Direct3D 11.1 / Driver:Intel  21.20.16.4508
1 x Crucial 16GB DDR4-2400
ASUS Xonar DGX PCIe Sound Card
OS Drive: M.2. NVMe PCIe 120GB
Storage Drive: WD SATA3 WD-WX31DC45TUSY

Most of my videos play fine but some are scrambled.
They play fine on VLC player and on my laptop (Kodi 18.8 and Windows 8.1 x64 / Conexant On board Audio / 16GB RAM / Intel 4000 iGUP + AMD Radeon 7730M)

Those appear to be HEVC 10 bit encodes, with one also HDR.  Need a Kodi debug log but you could try changing the render method.

You have a lot of media render errors, using less tolerant players you may have success using External players (wiki) the Mediainfo log will not disclose corrupted files, just reads the file header.

I have 80 films.

4 of these films only play scrambled video - but play fine with VLC player and on the laptop.
1 File, the one with the error in the log is corrupted (VLC won't play).
The other 75 play fine.

I've never had a problem with Kodi playing videos on Kodi, except for these scrambled ones.

Sometimes re-encoding will fix those pesky errors, try Handbrake and see if it will handle them.
