hi there i wanted to thank the people who work on kodi i really enjoy the software compared to other programs, the only problem being i can't directly open a file to play in kodi which would be nice because currently i have to go into kodi and navigate to the file location. I noticed you can support kodi by buying merch or donating and although i can't support kodi right now i want to let you know if you didn't already about paypal giving fund. since you have amazon smile and xbmc is a nonprofit you could also be eligible to have paypal giving fund collect donations without charging any fee like they do with normal paypal donations (https://www.paypal.com/fundraiser/hub). all you have to do is go to business information in paypal settings and set it to charitable and social service organizations and then go to https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/givingfund/home, then if you are set up properly me and anyone else can donate to xbmc at no charge to the foundation. hope this helps Smile
@pantarhel

Welcome to the forum, glad you have finally found Kodi (formerly XBMC) and enjoy the software. I note your tip on donating through paypal and we think we have that covered and appreciate anything you offer here https://kodi.tv/contribute/donate.

Thinking of Kodi as all encompassing media centre; once Kodi is launched a designated source can be listed as none (no scrapers and scanning denied) and subsequent media listings can be played in file mode, sort of a slush source folder, just be sure to make this outside of other Kodi sources. Some skins make this easier than others and suggest you try a few and get used to the internal clock workings of the greatest award-winning free and open source (GPL) software media player and entertainment hub that exists. Depending on the o/s I find you can call Kodi up with media params, I hesitate to use this method and reserve it for independent players.

If you are looking for specific support, please post in the area of your operating system, skin or concern.
