Bought this Android 10 box:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0897MZXCS
I have a Samsung 1080p HDTV that I've been watching 1080p on for years, from blurays and an old (Patriot Box Office) media player box.
I've updated Kodi to 18.8 Leia. (I have no add-ons for it at all.)
I'm just trying to play videos directly from a USB thumb-drive. No streaming or wi-fi.
I've used several HDMI cables, all of which did fine w/ 1080p from other devices.
I've tried all the HDMI ports on my TV, which work fine w/ 1080p from other devices.
In Kodi's SETTINGS>SYSTEM>DISPLAY "Resolution" is gray and shows 720p. (Same '720p 60hz' listing in the System Info section of Kodi.)
When I go to SETTINGS>SYSTEM>DISPLAY and switch from "Basic" mode to "Expert", and then go to DISPLAY and select "Whitelist" the only option is "1280x720p 60Hz".
The default media player on this box plays 1080p fine but doesn't support EAC3 audio so I can't use it.
The box's Android system settings for Display are set at 1080p 60hz.
When I play a 1080p video w/ Kodi the visual quality is clearly worse. The brightness/contrast/resolution all looks pretty awful compared to the exact same file played with the box's default media player, which looks as good as on the 1080p monitor of my Win7 PC w/ VLC.
So I'm totally new to all this, and any help would be appreciated. What the heck is going wrong? Thanks!
