instructuions say "the following field must be added to comskip.ini"
but I cant find that file to edit it on my system
My system just completely ignores the edl files and I always have to revert to kodi 17 for it to work I thought they would have fixed it by now but....

Because they don't exist. You have to create your own edl files.

If you have them and they don't work, then provide a copy of the edl file and a Debug Log which captures you playing the movie with an edl file.

That's a lot of work just to prove what doesn't work. I'll just downgrade Kodi and assume it will never be fixed again I've been trying to figure this out for over a year, It works fine before whatever they changed on 18.* so whatever...

here's one of my edl files

Ok, great. You saved me a "lot of work" trying to help you. I'll go back to using my edl files in v18 Smile

I just don't know what to do to make it work I'm so tired of trying to figure it out. Why is it so difficult for it to just work after the update. I've reformated, started over, upgrade, downgrade, remade the files, manually edited them, there is just nothing I can do I don't know how to make debug files and all.

Sorry I'm just frustrated don't mean to take it out on you
There is a problem using your edl file. Give us some time to check out the issue.

Well I do Appreciate any help. Just let me know what I need to do
@nracmo

The good news is that developer @Fuzzard may have spotted the problem in the code here... https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/blob/5230b6...l.cpp#L221

The bad news is that v18 has ended the development and update cycle so v18 won't be fixed.

Could you please raise an Issue report here... https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/issues and I will confirm your report and hopefully it might be a simple fix for a developer to add to v19.

Until then, I am not aware of any other Mute facility in Kodi. IIRC, there is an add-on named ProfanityMute (or similar) but no idea how it works. https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=169029

Thanks for the info I will do that. The addon mute profanity is one thing I use it for. It takes the subtitles and generates an edl file
