For those who struggle to compile like I did,
I highly suggest to use the same configuration in a virtual machine to ensure compiling works properly. I used Ubuntu 20.10 right now and it was too recent / has dependencies too recents.
For example with Leia 18.9;
This guide has been tested with Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial) x86_64. It is meant to cross-compile Kodi for Android using Kodi's unified depends build system.
I just ran in VirtualBox 16.04 and it worked like a charm.
I also used same ndk version (18) with same toolbox
