I'm using kodi on a Raspberry pi3 as my main jpeg picture browser, and it works great. Sadly, the browsing of pictures is very slow due to creation of thumbnails. Thus I've suggested as a feature request to use directly the exif preview images embedded within jpegs.
As a temporary workaround I've manually visited all my jpeg directories to enforce preview generation. Then browsing is fast. BUT: After some time all thumbnails are deleted automatically, and browsing is slow again.
And that's my question here: Howto disable automtic cleanup of jpeg preview images?
2021-04-29: Seems to be a wrong observation from my side, till today I don't miss any other thumbnail. Thus this topic might be closed or removed.
