I am using Kodi 18.9 on desktop MacPro running Catalina. IPTV simple client cannot get m3u channels. I only get this message: "PVRMangager is starting up:0%." This messag will stay forever but no channel list is being downloaded. I cannot find out what the problem is.
Thanks
Can you post a full debug log?

Hi
Thanks for your reply, but being new to Kodi I have no idea how to get a full debug log. Can you help, please6

I am hijacking this thread as I have the same issue and the original poster stopped answering. I run Kodi both on MacOS and on Android and have the same issue where I get the "PVRMangager is starting up: 0%" for a very long time (some times over an hour) when it starts. Usually it suddenly it starts counting from 0 to 100 and things are working after this hour or two has passed, but some times it seems like IPTV Simple Client crashes (my guess) and the text disappears and the IPTV does not work. I then have to restart Kodi and hope it finishes this time.

It might be due to a very large m3u file (22 mb) but I still think it is very strange it takes that much time, and that it is on 0% for most of the time. My Android box is the NVIDIA Shield (first version) and my Mac is Macbook Pro 16 2019 version. I had the issue both on Kodi 18 and on Kodi 19. I have tried to both load the m3u and EPG XML file over http and grabbing it local first.

My log file can be downloaded from https://we.tl/t-cb1ipIOvW3 (avilable for 7 days). I skipped the paste.kodi.tv site as the log file gets so big probably due to the large m3u. Let me know if you see anything or if I can help any other way.

To me it looks like it reads my m3u file in less than a minute, but not sure why it takes so much time before it starts on the EPG.
Next time please use the paste site for the log file or at least try it first.

22mb appears to be insanely huge for an M3U file. I’ve never seen a file that big. I would question it being from a reliable source.

Can you try taking the first 100 channels and put them in a separate file and see if that works?
Unless it takes that long to store all the channels in the DB. I guess that's possible. One at a time could take quite a while:

1 min and 5 seconds from loading channels to start PVR Manager. Then a further 16 seconds to start loading the EPG.
Thanks for your quick reply. I tried to cut down the m3u to a few hundred channels and it goes indeed very quick. The reason for the large file is due to the very large amount of channels. It is a very good source, so I want to keep them all.

I understand if this is just something I have to live with if I want a provider with this many channels. But if by some magic trick this can be improved I would be very happy.

That sounds strange. I even tried to delete the EPG to test, but with all the channels in the m3u it still takes a long time (I gave up my test after about 30 min) with "PVR manager is starting up: 0%"
But there is no way you can watch 100,000 channels. It’s completely impractical. You could try specifying the groups you need in a custom config file and then it would only use those.

BTW, that was added as a feature in the latest version on kodi 19
It's also highly questionable that a list with many thousands of channels is legally and legitimately sourced.

Our piracy policy (wiki) would come into play on that topic...

Thanks, I will look more into the new features in Kodi19.

It is not really that impractical with all the channels though. It is nicely grouped and the PVR works great when it finally has started. I do understand that it is not possible to load a 22MB m3u file and an equally large EPG in no time, but something about the way the PVR is reacting does not seem correct. It is stuck on 0% for about an hour until suddenly counting up to 100% within a couple of minutes. I know my situation is extreme, but I do feel at least something about feedback on the loading process could be improved.
IPTV starts here:

IPTV finishes here:

(less than a minute)

But there huge delays between the next few logs:
But to me, that looks like it's gone to sleep / screensaver?

Can you PM me the url of the playlist?
I just want to try it and see whats happening. not actually interested in the channels
Have you tried it without EPG to see if much faster?

This delay is what surprise me the most too. The delay seems to happen no matter if I have a screensaver or not, but if the delay is 30 min or 90 min seems random. I believe I had a screensaver on when this log was generated, but it it did finish up even with the screensaver on. I some times click arrow up/down every few minutes to avoid any screensaver or sleep but the delay is still here. To me it seems like the PVR does some task after "2021-02-26 11:54:13.335 T:3236    DEBUG <general>: AddOnLog: pvr.iptvsimple: pvr.iptvsimple - GetChannels - channels available '98926', radio = 0
(less than a minute)" that makes it either work hard for a long time, or stuck in some kind of mutex. But for some reason this task is not logged.

I did try to load without the EPG and the long delay is there still. To me it seems this is an issue with finishing up loading the M3U.

I will send over a copy of the M3U in a PM. Just give me an hour or two.

I am unfortunately not able to send PMs here. A quick search shows that I need 10 posts to do this, so I guess I am too much of a newbie here still. If you send me a PM with your e-mail or similar then I will send you the M3U. I prefer not to post it public online.
