We're adopting the Ubuntu Year.Month versioning for XBMC releases. It just means that you need to install XBMC 8.10 "Atlantis" alpha3. Which is what it's trying to do.
is there an issue with the skins and "atlantis" alpha3? It appears that the skins are using the old version?

Code:
Unpacking xbmc-skin-xtv (from .../xbmc-skin-xtv_0.1-2ppa1hardy1_all.deb) ...
Setting up xbmc-skin-xtv (0.1-2ppa1hardy1) ...
Changing access rights to the 'media' directory
Most of the 3rd party skins haven't changed. Just install it and be happy.
