I found a good solution:
Just write a unicode "Zero Width Space" character.
Code: U+200B

Under linux: Hold down ctrl+shift and type: u220b than release.
Under vim: in insert mode press ctrl+v and type u220b

Under windows: I don't know but this might help:

Tested working in xbmc rendered as "nothing" instead of the english string. Just the way we want.

Above, my questions about adding empty strings and answered by @alanwww1. This trick is not working anymore. Is there anyway to do that @Gade?

In Weblate right above the text field to the right, there is a button called "NBS" (No-Break Space).

That can be used for exactly that.
