I am upgrading my current HTPC which consists of (software):
Ubuntu 20.04
Kodi 19.1 (hdhomerun add on by Zuki)
Google-Chrome (for watching streaming services)
Make-MKV
and hardware:
Ryzen cpu computer
Ortech VRC-1100 ir remote and receiver
Optoma UHZ65 projector
openDRC-DA8 dsp crossover (made by minidsp)
HDHomerun prime cable card tuner
Logitech Harmony Remote (emulating VRC-1100)
In this system I do not have to use lirc because the VRC-1100 emulates a usb keyboard so that pushing a button on the remote acts like a keyboard key press so it is easy to get Kodi to respond to the VRC-1100 remote as you would want it to. You can also use the remote to trigger keyboard hot keys which is how I switch between Kodi and the streaming service (Amazon Prime Videos, MHz Choice, or MPT Passport) I want to use. The Harmony remote also controls the projector (on and off), the dsp crossover (volume and mute), and putting the computer to sleep and waking it up.
The limitation in expanding this system is the number of buttons on the VRC-1100 and the fact that the Harmony remote does not have a mouse function which I need to navigate the streaming services on Google-Chrome. I am stuck with the Harmony remote, a mouse, and a keyboard next to my chair in the home theater.
My purpose is to replace the Harmony remote, mouse, and keyboard with a keyboard with a integrated trackball -
Adesso WKB-3150UB - Wireless Ergonomic Keyboard
and instead of using a button press on the remote to launch an application I would use a desktop launcher and the keyboard mouse (so far I have defined seven launchers, but there could be a lot more) to start an application.
This requires that the htpc control the dsp crossover (volume and mute) and projector (on and off) via an ir-blaster which would require lirc. I have an ir transceiver -
Pinnacle ir remote and transceiver
I have installed lirc 0.10.1 which recognizes the Pinnacle remote (irw works). But I have no idea how to send a particular ir code to the transceiver (ir-blaster function). Note that the dsp crossover has a learning function so that I could use the Pinnacle ir-remote volume up, volume down, and mute codes to control it. The projector does not have a ir remote learning function but the byte codes for turning it on and off are documented in the user manual:
Turn On 32 CD 02
Turn Off 32 CD 2E
I think I have all the information I need but I don't know what to do with it. If someone could point me to the appropriate documentation, examples, or just a suggestion it would be appreciated.
