I use KODI few years now mainly for watching live TV.
As backend I have tvheadend with dual sat tuner.
Everything works fine, but since the update from Leila (18.9) to any Matrix the channel switching time increased dramatically.
In Leiia on average it was 2 seconds.
With Matrix it's 5 ~ 6 seconds.
It behaves same way regardless of pvr client in Kodi - tested with IPTV simple and HTSP as well.
And behaves same way on a linux laptop or Android Tv (NVIDIA Shield)
Any advice or clue?
I can provide logs if needed.

it seems to be tvheadend issue then. May I know what version of thveadend are you using?
I use CoreELEC with Kodi 19.4 on my S905x with tvh server addon as backend. Dont know exakt what Tvh build no included

And what seems to be really strange is that on KODI 19.x when I press the button to start watching live TV, KODI (iptv simple) makes 5 subscriptions/unsubscruptions until a picture is shows. That takes some 15 seconds.

Don't start a new thread of the same question simply because you want it elsewhere.

So why not just use the TVheadend addon?
My guess on the multiple subscribe/unsubscribes is because the matrix version of the addon samples the stream if it’s doesn’t know the type. Try adding mime type KODIPROP before the M3U stream URL.
For TS streams use:

For HLS use:

#KODIPROP:mimetype=application/x-mpegURL

why using IPTV Simple and not HTSP client?
At the time of creating my setup the IPTV Simple was (and maybe still is) the easiest way to have a channel list combined from 2 different tvheadend backends (they are some 1500 km apart).

helped. Now Playback to start needs some second or two and not 10s to 15s.
Just for curiosity: there are still 2 subscriptions and one unsubscription before playback starts. In opposite of HTSP with only 1 subscription.
Is there any reason for that? Can we tune IPTV simple to make one subscription only? That would save another extra 0.5s maybe.

I’m sorry, I’m afraid I don’t know. I don’t know anything about how TVheadend works or how it uses subscriptions.
