So I've been having issues with Kodi over the last few months, where it will just freeze or crash for no reason, often times just seconds after starting.
Hopefully the log helps...
I've tried all versions from alpha to latest stable version, they all do the same thing
I've tried reinstalling and everything, hopefully it's just an add-on
[Mod edit] don't see how running banned add-ons is a bug.

Three things to try...
1. Delete those couple of left over banned addons. They are the two orange entries near the top of the log. (can be done as part of item 3 below)
2. Delete the <cache> entries settings in your advancedsettings.xml file. (can be done as part of item 3 below)
3. Looks like there is a problem with one of the databases. Is deleting the
Kodi data folder (wiki) an option for you? Will it be easy enough to rebuild the library again?
If yes, can you delete or rename the Kodi folder here... C:\Users\Nick\AppData\Roaming\
Start Kodi and the folders should be recreated, but empty.
4. Now try playing your movies. Does it still crash? If yes, then provide another log. This time... enable debug mode.
Ok I'll try rebuilding the database and deleting the folders. Those two banned add-ons, are they not good to use? One is the repo so I could install the wizard addon, and I use it to clear thumbs and clean up the install for troubleshooting, wasn't aware they were bad?
I just tried disabling all addon's and playing back a movie and it still crashed on me, so seems it's not an add-on issue?
I'll try renaming the folders now.

The fact that we class them as
Banned Add-ons (wiki) should give you the indication that they are probably bad to use. It is not a moral judgment on our part but it is to do with our
piracy policy and
Forum Rules. We don't provide support for Kodi installations that include them (with the exception helping users remove them) not only because many promote piracy but the fact that many interfere with the core operation of Kodi in ways that often causes stability issues. "Wizards" are often culprits of this.
Hopefully once you purge you system of these (not just disabling) you will see your issue disappear, if not you can then provide a clean
Debug Log that can be used to analyse the issue.
ok, had no idea! thought it was a great little tool, but i'll get rid of it. Getting much less crashes right now since rebuilding the database so lets see how thisĀ goes! thanks dudes!

There is still a lot of crap coming from the active skin (embuary-matrix) into the log file. Problematic skins can have Kodi crash as well.
Try activating Estuary, as well as Kodi's debugging.
Then RESTART Kodi TWICE (after each crash), and provide the latest kodi.log as well as the kodi.old.log file.
Both logs show normal Kodi shutdowns, no crash.
very odd!
I restarted kodi 2x after the crash. This time I'll not do that and send a log. If it were windows 11 crashing it (or something else outside of kodi), would that not show up in the kodi log?
