Outside of Kodi, on the Apple TV home screen there are icons for each Apple TV app (Kodi, Crunchyroll, Prime Video, Youtube, Netflix, etc...).

When highlight a particular app that app gets to choose something to display on the top half of the Apple TV home screen. 
 

• Netflix shows ads for their latest series/movies
  
• Youtube shows a logo for Youtube
  
• Prime Video shows ads for their latest series/movies
  
• Crunchyroll shows thumbnails for the last few episodes I watched
  
• Kodi (19.4.0, git 20220302-e12e66e019) shows 5 thumbnails for recently added movies
  

How I can turn off that feature? The last version of Kodi I had installed just showed a Kodi logo (pretty sure it was 19.3). I'd strongly prefer that
Is there a setting that I can set to turn off Kodi's thumbnails on the Apple TV home screen?

you need to delete top shelf extension plugin from the .app bundle (path: Kodi.app/PlugIns/topshelf.appex) or simply don't sign the plugin
