almost forgot.
XBMC: 20080710-3 (PackMan RPM), XBMC tells it's "SVN: unknown"
openSUSE 11.0
i686
full debug log:
http://wklej.org/id/4341/
From what I see both Lircmap.xml and Keymap.xml are wrong.
Look at this
http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=167902&postcount=9
In Lircmap you should tell XBMC what the lirc means in terms of the names found in <remote> in Keymap.xml. Hope that made sense >D
P.S Very good you appended logs and all that one your first post but next time don't truncate the log, never know what could have been missed
Cheer,
Tobias
I don't understand Lircmap.xml now...
<button name from lircd.conf></button name from lircd.conf>
or
<desired button name for XBMC>button name from lircd.conf</desired button name for XBMC>
when using second format, some buttons worked. changing to first made my xbmc don't recognize any buttons...
Is there a guide on how to set everything up in Ubuntu (getting the Windows MCE Remote to control XBMC)

Lircmap.xml should contain
<remote device="NAMETHATIRWRETURNS">
<foo>Lircd.conf button name</foo>
</remote>
Were foo is the one you want to link with that LIRC command.
Here are the linkable remote buttons
http://www.xbmc.org/wiki/?title=Keymap.x...te_Buttons
For mceusb2 it should only be needed to sudo apt-get install lirc and choose the mceusb2 (new one with philips)
Topfs2, so my Lircmap.xml is ok. Why did you said it's wrong?
Keymap.xml seems also ok.

Because it is wrong, if it's this one..

Here is 3 examples on how it should be:
https://xbmc.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot...ircmap.xml
Also the Keymap is very wrong if it's this one:
http://wklej.org/id/4313/
You don't have remote device in keymap.xml
Only in Lircmap.xml
In keymap you just map the XboxDVDDongle.
Read that, reread my 2 posts carefully and it should work. Are you sure IRW is giving you any response.
yes, all my keys work in irw and every other app that normally uses lirc.
so my xbmc-internal names of buttons must match that ones from <remote /> from
Keymap.xml and they cannot be children of my imagination?
Keymap.xml:

Lircmap.xml:

I'm trying to understand you and xbmc's log, but that's all not human friendly.
Hi there,
my remote is not working either, and i have no clue why. Right now i seem to be too stupid to find an error.
Maybe someone could give me a hint.
I am using hardy and tried different configs so far.
My
Keymap.xml (which should be the default one)
My
Lircmap.xml (<- the used device is the last one called MEDION)
My
lircd.conf
My
xmbc.log (< which at least confirms me that something happens if i press a button on remote)
Thanks for your help & keep up the nice work.
Chaos
ensure in Keymap.xml where you are specifying actions for remote buttons you have specified device in every remote-specific <remote />.
also, read posts before you posted.
