Since Kodi 20 self-installed on my Shield a short while ago, I haven't been able to see ordinary files in File Manager. I can see them fine if I use them in an external app like X-plore.

I've tried rebooting, playing with the UI and searching here for a solution, with no success.

So: is there a new setting somewhere in v20 which controls whether ordinary files (txt, log, mp4, audio etc etc) are shown in file listings, or is this a bug of some kind which only affects my Shield?

Happy to supply logs if this is an unusual one.

Ah, I see the blue banner now, i.e. this solution.

And Kodi doesn't update itself - it's the Shield TV updating apps.
