digitalhigh Wrote:Dude...you really enjoy Horizonz. Like...I'd be kinda scared if I were x2biris kinda "enjoy". I mean; it's my default skin, I spend a large majority of my freetime making backdrops for it, and I visit these forums several times daily for information on Horizons (and Aeon Stark)...yet you've totally got me whooped.

And...in regards to your statement about "he doesn't even have a computer"...I disagree *slightly*. All you need to edit xml is notepad or a similar text editor. I know you couldn't do full-blown testing from a cafe, but to make small changes and implement them shouldn't be that big of a deal.

X2biris - I understand the fact that you're low on cash and it's a pay-to-use cafe...as well as what it's like to try and do ANYTHING while watching a kid. Big Grin

So I'm not complaining about the timing. It's totally understandable...

Back to you, Blackrose...

So yeah, he does have at least a halfassed computer to change things on. Where do you think the PS mockups are coming from? And he asked for a critique of the new idea. It does a designer no good whatsoever if nobody comments on a new concept, or even worse, just says "that looks great" without offering anything constructive on the topic. Kissing the designer's as$ doesn't help anything progress.

Hope you get what I'm saying, X2B. Obviously, I'm not trying to be disrespectful to you...just make a point.

cool man... nyways... a pound an hour is steep in south africa though... not allowing myself to stay here for more than an hour unless its ultra neccessary... and as i need to install XBMC, Horizonz, Userdata and Backdrops everytime I get here... I don't think the time would be worth it, although I have managed to do a few things codewise in this place... which is good, but not good enough for u guys i know... sorry geez...

nyways... its true, i need to be critted... coz so many skins out there go uncritted... and they end up having to change things later... but seriously... sometimes i understand where the crit comes from... but as i've mentioned beforehand, this is still on the road to completion... and then a graphic overall will change stuff big time... it'll look sweet... trust me... XBDD needs to get back to me with the mockups i made a few months back... these mockups show what horizonz will look like one day... at least the home screen... and trust me, it's way more impressive... i'll phone the dude today, so he can send those mockups to me, coz i lost them in the shipping, but i did them on his pc in the uk, so he should still have em...

oh, tell blackrose she shouldn't kiss my ass... its nice, but shes overboard sometimes... u know she's a porn star... hehehe...

R111 Wrote:This donate PM thing is getting too much. All I can say is Aeon "Stark" is coming.
From an early sneak pre-view of it an early ver, i know djh is gonna drop a bomb..

hey, i hope u know i didn't send that pm... it was blackrose in all her craziness... i warned people wouldn't like it... send her a pm and tell her to drop it... actually wait... let me send her one as well...

djh_ Wrote:Man, if you thought that version was good. Was any of it even there then?

it was a start... and it was impressive... and i'm sure its going to get better man... and u better drop me a pm when a newer version is out... don't have the time to check these days, but i'm dying for a new aeon...
digitalhigh Wrote:Barely. You couldn't even set the backdrop folders. Skyline was a nice thing to behold in real life tho. Big Grin

yeah, it was... oh and u could change the backies with the shutdown menu... and it looked great man...

nymart Wrote:Just getting started with XBMC and love what I see for the Horizon mod. Question is how to install? I extracted the files to the AEON skin folder but I don't get the option of the new views? Was I supposed to overlay Aeon?

TIA

digitalhigh strait at yah...

digitalhigh Wrote:Should be extracted into it's own folder, not the Aeon folder.

Make a folder called horizonz, and put everything in that. Should work then. Big Grin

u useful crazy dude... thanks man...

nymart Wrote:Thanks...worked like a charm...I LOVE THIS MOD...

great stuff
pecinko Wrote:Got me on this, I'm no font expert.. Verdana maybe, though it's a little wider

i'll check it out... verdana is too common, but i'll check it out... who knows...

dynamix Wrote:I really like the sound of that! Hope he/she is willing to collaborate with you.

Maybe progress isn't as you've planned at the moment, but you will get there with Horizonz, i'm convinced you will Nod

thanks man... who knows what he plans... but if they get in, i'm sure horizonz will look like nothing the xbmc world has ever seen... this dude is perfect... 20 years of graphic design experience... tons of awards... but we'll see... nyways... getting some mockups i made like 2 months ago... lost them in the shipping... but XBDD let me know he still has them, so i'm waiting for him to send them over... those mockups are great, and are what the home screen should look like one day... spent more than my average 5 minutes editing graphics for them, so hopefully u'll like em...

BlackRose Wrote:Ouch whoever that was. I can assure you I have more of a life than you do!

i bet u do... hey, stop fighting with people... and stop PMing them as well... ur getting into trouble like i said u would... so stop it...
Dammit, I forgot them at home dude. But yes, I do have them in psd form, but I don't reckon u'd need to edit them at all, they're going to love those, I told u to put them up earlier man. Your graphic skills are a lot better than Horizonz entails!
While you're around I just want to let you know what you have done with this theme is amazing. It's stunning. I just in the last week switched my 5 years and running frontend from Meedio to XBMC and installed this and I'm in awe. I appreciate your time and hardwork put into something I get for free.

I've been using HTPCs for a long time and this is the best looking software I've ever used. Thanks!

If it's not necessary to be noncommercial font, I can look at Adobe Open types for a better alternative?

dude, c'mon... i'm dying to get my hands on some of my concept pics... i'm waiting man... u promised... and u were right, it is time to unleash the demons!

do it man... i like acens, but anything close with better international fonts would be great... will put some time into new fonts as soon as i can...
Since Volume III, requests and suggestions have continued to stream in, and thus, until very recently, new feautures have been added by the plenty. Additions, besides those mentioned in Sets 1-4, are as follows:

- Added a New Mini-Nav Panel to Music and Video OSD's with progress-orientated Scanning function (i.e. Left and Right Analog Seek on XBOX)

- Added Visualisation Panel to Music OSD with Vis and Framerate information

- Added a New Progress Bar to Music and Video Fullscreen Info Panels

Image

- Added Picture Information Support with List Item and Slideshow variants

- Added New Music Playlist Info Support to Picture View and Slideshow

Image

Image

- Added Smart Playlist and Smart Playlist Rule Support to Music Playlists section

Image

- Added New Wall Info Panel to Movies and TV Shows Wall View

Image

- Added M3U Startup Playlist Support to Horizonz->System Menu

- Added Trainer Settings Support for XBOX users

- Added New Default Backdrop

Some of these features are incomplete, others untested and at present, the OSD's are very unstable, but with some editing time everything will be corrected for Volume IV.

Last Note

I know that nothing I'm presenting at the moment in mind altering, but with a full featured, close-to-done skin close to being ready, you're soon set to have your minds blown!

Logically, completing a skin's feature set has always been more important, so one has time to filter out its floors and learn more about what its appeal is. I believe that we've continued along the right road to achieving this, and that even though some ideas never looked great, they had purpose and ideal. With a path set, there's always the oppertunity of returning to the beginning and beautifying the stones which make up the path itself.

With this in mind, I've asked XBDD to send me a few Mockups I made around the end of September so, that you guys can see what a more polished Horizonz may look like. Should have them up as soon as I get them, but yeah, when I get them is up to XBDD. So there's something for you guys to look forward to.

Donation Update

On the one hand, there's been no change on the donation front, but on the other, I've managed to sell a few pieces of hardware from my old computer for in accumulation of about $45 or so if I calculate it based on 10:1 ratio over here.

So, in fact, I need about $65 to get a new PC. So thanks for the support and helping me get this close. I greatly appreciate it! Still have a few things I'm advertising in the local newspaper (EBAY ain't big in these parts), so hopefully I'll be able to get Volume IV out soon. $65 man! That's close, so if you choose to, a helping hand is always welcome!
Yeah yeah dude. I'll send it tomorrow, putting a reminder on my cell now. Anyways, great screenshots. Really good features especially the scanning and nav panel idea! Its good that you got so much done before that Pc died! Didn't it bomb when you were busy on the OSD?
Could you add in the option to have custom tabs on the menu as i like having BBC iPlayer on the main screen i am currently using Clips as this button

thanks man... nyways, thats right, it did... but i have managed to edit one or two things in this internet cafe... like the osd... its working but without animation as yet... and it tends to bomb out for some reason, no idea if thats an xbmc pc problem... but yeah, get those psds to me, i'm dying to see what they look like... can't even remember

i don't know... some guy said he'd make a script like that for me, but he never got back to me... eish... i'll have to see what happens when i get into editing full time again... it may be an idea to follow up on!
As you are completing the feature set, how about adding weather fanart support?

The Weather Channel

xb2iris,

I love the work, but I have to say the new universal frame setup just isn't doing it for me. For me it seems to be going away from the sleek look of Aeon/Horizonz. If anything, the frame actually draws attention away from the movie poster, and also from the background. It's drawing too much attention.

Just my 2 cents though.

Otherwise, great work.
I copied the HorizonZ folder to my Skin folder on XBMC Live and for some reason when I go to appearance settings HorizonZ is there but it is grayed out and will not let me select it.

Anyone one have any idea what the problem is?

Thanks.
