Anyone else having this issue?
Since I updated to 20.1 there's distortion when playing back music.
I've played back music outside of Kodi and it plays fine but inside Kodi its crackling as if I've damaged my speakers which was my first thought when I heard it but that's not the case.
20.0 was 100% fine?
Post a Debug Log showing your issue, please.
Yeah no problems before and I don't know how to fix it because nothing has changed other then 20.1
Anyway here, is this what you want
I've never had to post my log before Confused

@Matayu You posted a regular log not a debug log. Please follow the instructions to enable debug logging first: https://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file/Easy
I see lots of scripts and Directory errors. Also you have enabled "Component Logging" Audio, which spams the entire log - but does not show a single issue.

Some issues with your USB disk?

Make sure to set:
- Keep Audio alive to 1 minute

Turn on debug logging, but disable audio component logging for now and play just the file again where you have issues.

No USB issues, I updated those Albums so they are missing now and been replaced with new files hence why it's reporting an error.
And yeah I thought that component logging might help, my bad
I'm at work now so I'll do it again once I'm at home.
Thanks for looking into it. Big Grin
But is this actually going to report it if the system thinks everything is okay?
First you can only answer:
Where is it distorted? Only for movies or for menu sounds? Or for music?

And then provide a logfile where your issue is said to happen.
I first noticed it with video and then I tested it another video and then with music in case it was just that video and I could hear it still in several files.
I tested outside Kodi and it was fine.
Menu's SFX sound fine
it only happens at certain high peaks in the audio.
All audio levels are set to 0 too.
I'll get that log up for you once I finish work
that rather sounds like: https://kodi.wiki/view/Video_playback#Audio_Settings a misconfiguration here, e.g. volume amplification moved up or something ... triple verify this. Nothing changed here from 20.0 - as menu sounds are fine, rather looks like that - especially as you say music video / etc. is also affected which uses the exact same PCM output.
In your logs you also play a DTS-HD sample in passthrough mode - Here volume does absolutely nothing. So if it's happening here also, it is nothing kodi is doing - as the data is RAW output and processed later on.

This is what I thought because that's what it sounds like but I'm sure it was all set to 0 when I checked and I don't even think I could lower it either, and I haven't adjusted it before or after the update.
I will double check when I get home and do my log.
But like you said it's RAW output so it should be the same as through default player.
I also forgot to mention that you can hear it even at low volume.
Most of my music files are Flac & the videos I heard it on was PCM too if that makes a difference
I'll have to check with the DTS-HD, I think I have something with that so I'll see if I can hear it there too.
@fritsch
Here we go, it wouldn't fit in one so I had spread it across two
https://paste.kodi.tv/iqavoraqoh.kodi
https://paste.kodi.tv/vevacecunu.kodi
Same as before
I also tested the DTS too
and while it sounded fine with no issues like above it had audio drops in load scenes which wasn't present before Undecided

Edit
Fix I think...
I rolled back to 20.0 and it was still happening and then I rolled back to 19.5 and it was still present.
Which is confusing because I sure it wasn't there before
But like I said before, plays fine through the TV's media app.
So out of curiosity I disabled StereoUpMix and I believe it's gone.
I'll have to do some more testing but it's too late now to be testing audio Angry
Okay - yeah - I was sure the problem is not in 20.1 - as literally nothing changed here.

Just reporting back, I've checked more intensively and yep! it was the Stereo UpMix.
Thanks for looking into for me though Big Grin

Still getting those audio drops though with DTS
