I have installed Kodi (version 20.1) on Dune HD Real Vision 4K which is connected to my AVR via HDMI. Multi-channel (5.1, 7.1) LPCM FLAC shows as 2 channel. 5.1, 7.1 DTS, DTS-HD MA, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital + work fine. The same Multi-channel LPCM FLAC files play fine with Dune's internal player and Oppo BDP-103. The reason I'm trying to use Kodi is to play those files gapless (Dune or Oppo don't support gapless playback).

Any idea?
As you can see from your log file, which you did not post, Kodi properly opens Multi Channel but your firmware behind Kodi's back down mixes it again. Nothing we can do, multi channel leaves Kodi and then firmware is doing what it wants.

Ask dune for a firmware update to support audiotrack API properly. It is 2023 now and android supported this officially since many years. There is no excuse why dune firmware does not. The time of internal player hacks has to be over.

Post your log, then everyone can see it and stop buying the device.

Thanks for replying. Here's the link to the log file https://paste.kodi.tv/imewagabix

My main requirements are as follows:
 - to be able to play iso of DVD, DVD-Audio, BD, SACD with menu; FLAC, WAV upto 24 bit 192 khz.
 - support for multi-channel (quad, 5.1, 7.1) LPCM, DTS, DTS-HD MA, DD, DD+, TrueHD, Atmos format.
 - gapless playback
 - able to connect USB harddrive

Not sure what else is in the market that supports what I mentioned above. My Oppo can do most of that except gapless, Atmos and iso. Dune can do most of that except gapless, quad LPCM and DVD-Audio
For PCM, please verify the number of channels you have set on the Audio page. I see kodi is directly only opening 2 channels, which means wrong settings.

DTS-HD-MA is supported in RAW only by the firmware. Be aware that Android under the hood is still free to just output "normal DTS" from it. Post a log playing it, please.
DD+ looks good on IEC and RAW. Post a log playing it, please.

DTS-HD-MA is not supported via IEC, sadly.

Edit: and a mediainfo of this file: 02 - Have You Ever Been (To Electric Ladyland).flac after you verified the PCM channels you configured inside kodi's PCM audio settings page.

# of channels set shouldn't matter in passthrough is 'on', right? anyway, I changed to 7.1 and did various tests. See below:

still it played 5.1/7.1 LPCM flac and 5.1 SACD dsf file with 2 channel. Passthrough output device set to AudioTrack (IEC). Please see log here https://paste.kodi.tv/iregebebiw

I played follwing 3 tracks:
Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland - 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition 2018 (FLAC 5.1) #/02 - Have You Ever Been (To Electric Ladyland).flac
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (2022) (24-96 7.1)/02 Breathe.flac
Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon (SACD 5.1)/6ch/03 - On The Run.dsf

It played Atmos and DD tracks ok. It played DTS-HD MA as just DTS when output device set to AudioTrack (IEC). If I set it to AudioTrack (RAW), then it played in DTS-HD MA mode. log link https://paste.kodi.tv/bojadohule

AudioTrack (IEC)

played following tracks:
Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon (50th Anniversary, 2023 Remaster Atmos)/02 Breathe (In the Air) (2023 Remaster).m4a  > atmos played ok
Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same (BD Video 2007)/LED_ZEPPELIN_TSRTS_2007.iso  > DD
Pink Floyd - Animals [2018 Remix 2022] (BD Audio 5.1)/PINK_FLOYD_ANIMALS_2022.ISO  > DTS-HD MA played as DTS

AudioTrack (RAW)
Pink Floyd - Animals [2018 Remix 2022] (BD Audio 5.1)/PINK_FLOYD_ANIMALS_2022.ISO > DTS-HD MA plyed ok.

There is no TrueHD option in when set to AudioTrack (IEC). But after setting to RAW, I get TrueHD option but severe audio drop out in 5.1 TrueHD and almost no audio in 7.1 TrueHD. Please see log link https://paste.kodi.tv/yiqitumoza
AudioTrack (RAW)

Roger Waters - Us + Them 2020 (BD Video)/ROGER_WATERS_US_AND_THEM.ISO

another issue:
Kodi shuts down when I select some of the folders in the USB drive from "Music". Not sure how to create log for that.
LPCM is not passthrough. That's why audio channels matter for everything that is PCM.

Kodi properly opens 6 channels. If you still only get 2, firmware bug, down mixing happens behind Kodi's back.

DTSHD: told you so. In IEC you get only DTS right away in RAW Kodi will open DTS HDMA and your firmware packer only packs the core.

Overall please report back to the Dune people. Everything can be fixed. See Shield or FireTV Cube 3 and others.

Hi fritsch, thanks for your reply. I'll report to Dune support but I'm just wondering why all of the issues mentioned above works with Dune's internal player then?

Kodi uses the official Google provided API's, when it comes to their own internal player they can do anything they want so they don't have to stick to the official API's.

Yeah shitting on standards, delivering binary blobs which contain "the fixes". Not fixing the root-cause but mitigating inside their vendor specific binaries only ... or in short: you got what you paid for -> their player.
Do you know why Kodi shuts down when I select some of the folders in the USB drive from "Music"? Not sure how to create log for that.

Thanks for your feedback. I'll report the firmware issues to Dune support. But I'm not sure if they'll fix it if it's not affecting their internal player.

I know I get what I pay for but I couldn't find anything else that had all my requirements. So, I'm kind of stuck with some of the issues and keep using physical CD, DVD, BD media.
When Kodi crashes there is an old log in your user data temp directory. You can get it via adb and upload it. It has old in its name.

Could you please give me detailed instructions/steps? I don't know adb or how to use it.
Start here: https://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file/Easy enable the proper setting to also upload the old log.

1) Start kodi make it crash
2) Start kodi again, upload the log according to the wiki description with the proper setting in the addon enabled.

Seems it's failing on a file "PF_MakingOf_TDSOTM.iso" and it thinks it's a SACD iso but it's not. It's a DVD iso.
Please ignore the previous link. Correct link below
