Full Version: Using Hardware Deinterlacer on Nvidia RTX40XX causes dropped frames

Hey guys,
If I play this file with DXVA2 and DXVA deinterlacer, I get dropped frames on my RTX40XX card with driver 545.84.
No issue with Hardware acceleration itself, because if I disable Deinterlacer "DXVA" I get no dropped frames, but also no deinterlaced video.
Also disabling DXVA2 completely in settings fixes it. I can also use Software Deinterlacer then without dropped frames.

I get the same with other players, like MPC-BE with internal Filters, but also with external filters like LAV Filters, also Renderer does not make any difference like EVR CP, madVR or MPC Video Renderer.

Here is short sample cut out of the file.

Here is a log using DXVA2 with DXVA deinterlacer.

I just tested another file and get stutters, but dropped frames are not in statistics. Video is 59.940p

Clearly visible by constant motion of train:

Tried on Windows 10 GT1030 driver 545.92, no visible problems when played back at 1920x1080 @ 59.94Hz like you. Both samples.
With the interlaced clip, there are tons of CVideoPlayer::CheckContinuity lines in the log, not sure what that means.
I think @jogal has a gpu similar to yours, maybe he'll test.

However if as you wrote results are also bad with other players, it looks like a driver problem. You could try downgrading to older versions, in case it worked at some point and is broken now.
