Just moved over to Google TV and installed Kodi..... but Kodi refuses to remember my downloaded subtitles. At first it goes OK but after shutting down Kodi and coming back later to the same movie all the subs are gone again and has to dl the subs. AGAIN! Quite annoying. On VLC all goes OK, strangely enough! Tried to give permission to all for the app but that does not work while in Android TV it did. Am I something missing here?
yeah......google is playing dumb when it comes to storage, TV makers then make things worse and if something hasn't changed, KODI has it's own thing that would prevent you to write the subtitles next to the movie.
So, if you are using external disk for movies, then you need to tell kodi to write the subtitles somewhere inside it's own folder because it's the only one that it has writable permission for. If you use network shares then this should not be an issue if you set everything right.
We-hey! And that did exactly the trick! Instead of pointing to the folder of the movie, just reroute it it to the ROOT of the external HDD and voila! Tried it several times (on and off) and it still shows subs as it SHOULD BE!
