Hi XBMC community,

as this is my first message in the forum, I want to thank you for this fantastic piece of software. I'm using XBMC since 2005 on my XBOX and it is the most used software in my life. Fantastic! Big Grin

I tried to boot XBOX Live Beta 1 on my HP Notebook and it is suddenly stopping. Here are the last 6 lines (if you need more, please tell me):

[65.607314] scsi 0:0:1:0: CD-ROM HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4083N HP13 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
]65.636009] sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 0
[65.636103] scsi 0:0:1:0: Attached scsi generic sp1 type 5
[65.649238] Driver 'sr' needs updating - please use bus_type methods
[65.660493] sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 24x/24x writer dvd-ram cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray
[65.660564] Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20

Is there a way to save the boot messages instead of typing?

Is there another way to give you more information?

Thanks in advance

You can "dmesg &> dmesg.txt" in a terminal and grab the dmesg.txt file with sftp or scp.

http://pastebin.com

The whole output of dmesg will likely be of more use.

All of this stuff goes for your other thread too.

EDIT: Apparently you figured out that first bin while I was typing this Wink
Hi althekiller,

thanks, that you want to help me, but currently I cannot type anything in a terminal, as the boot is not finishing and I don't have a terminal. ;-)

Or is there a way to interrupt the boot and open a shell? Or is there a second shell somewhere? I tried CTRL+ALT+F2, F3, F4... but there is just a black screen.

As soon as I get a shell, I will forward you the dmesg.

Do you have some another idea? Shall I download and try a Ubuntu 8.04 and see what is happing there?

Best regards

Christian
Hi althekiller and all,

I downloaded Ubuntu 8.04 and started the Live CD (it is booting, but needs a few minutes).

[ 39.180273] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Attached SCSI disk
[ 39.184516] sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 0

The bold line was the last line during the XBMC Live CD start. As there are different IDs (39.185900 and 65.660564 for "Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20") I don't know, if this can be compared, but maybe it will awake an idea.

The complete Ubuntu dmesg file can be found here: http://ceb-amdx2be-2350.bruemmer.homedns...hri/dmesg2

Best regards
