Full Version: XBMC Database, How do I get series in it?

Hi!

I just discovered the database function of XBMC. It does seam cool, but I don't seam to be able to get my series in it.

In "normal, non-DB mode" I choose set content on the folders with the TV-series (I also tried this on the folder with all the TV-series folders). I then in DB-mode get the series with the right name and all, but theres no actual episodes in them. There's just a ..-door out of it.

Am I doing something wrong here or is this feature not done yet or what? Dose the series have to follow a specific name convention? Help me please!
Ok so now I added some more series, and some of them actually shows up in DB-mode. But not all of them.

I've studied the filenames but can't find any significant differences in them.

Here's a recursive printout of my series folder if any one is up to it.

Code:
[email protected]:~/Videos/Series$ dir -R

I choose set content on this folder (~/Videos/Series) and in the menu that appears I choose TVDB.com and scan automaticly I think.

The ones that show up in DB-mode is:
Code:
./Family Guy:
Family.Guy.S07E01.REPACK.PDTV.XviD-ETACH.avi

and

Code:
./Californication:
Californication.S02E01.720p.HDTV.x264-2HD.mkv

Any one got any idea?
Ohh yeah!!!
It finds the all of the folders, just not the video files. Except the for californication and family guy ones of course.
just for sh*ts and giggles, drop the TV show name in the file name. I have mine setup as follows:
TV_Shows\Califonication\S02E01.blah.avi
TV_Shows\Heroes\S01E03.blah.avi

And i never have a problem with the scans!
See if that helps!
Cheers!

nope, that doesn't work. Tanx any way.
hmmm ok. well if i recall correctly i had to setup expressions in my userdata/advancedsettings.xml

Code:
<AdvancedSettings>
<tvshowmatching>
    <regexp>Season[\._ ]([0-9]+)[\\/]([0-9][0-9]+)[^\\/]*</regexp>

    <regexp>[\\/]s([0-9]+)e([0-9]+)+</regexp>
    <regexp>[\\/]s([0-9]+)e([0-9]+)</regexp>
    <regexp>([0-9]+)([0-9][0-9])[^\\/]*</regexp>
    <regexp>.*[Ss]([0-9][0-9]*).*[Ee]([0-9][0-9]+).*</regexp>
    <twopart>
        <regexp>\[[Ss]([0-9]+)\]_\[[Ee][0-9][0-9]\-([0-9]+)\][^\\/]*</regexp>           % foo_[s01]_[e01-02]

    </twopart>
</tvshowmatching>
</AdvancedSettings>

See if that helps!

Cheers!
There's a little setting on the left, when you are in library mode. Depending on what it is set at, it could read: "Watched", "Unwatched", or "All Videos".

Make sure it is set to all videos when you are in library mode--if you just created a new library, and it is set to "Watched", then its not going to show any of your videos...

I didn't have that file. I created one just to try it but there was no difference.

I have 2 settings there that is similar to what you're taking about, one says "hide seen" and the other says "put together" (I just translated this from Swedish so it might say something else in the English version), no of witch makes a difference.

Maybe I should change the language to English because that usually makes more sense than Swedish translations of softwares.
You're better off just sticking all the episodes in one folder and naming them like this -

TV Shows\Arrested Development\S01E01.avi
TV Shows\Arrested Development\S01E02.avi
TV Shows\Arrested Development\S01E03.avi
TV Shows\Arrested Development\S01E04.avi
...
TV Shows\Arrested Development\S02E01.avi
TV Shows\Arrested Development\S02E02.avi
TV Shows\Arrested Development\S02E03.avi

etc

XBMC ignores any folder after the main one anyway.

No it dose not. I got 2 shows in to the library mode, remember?
It was just because thetvdb.com was down over the last few days.

Try again. You don't need advancedsettings.xml in order to pick up that naming scheme.
Yeah, that naming scheme should be fine.

Step 1. Select your "Arrested Development" folder in non-library mode, and set its content to nothing for that folder (this will clear any old or messed up database entries you might have).

Step 2. Then set the content to by thetvdb.com. Check the box marked "This folder contains only one show" (or whatever your translation is), because you've only got "Arrested Development" in that folder. That's the best way to organize your shows anyhow.

Step 3. I generally DON'T select Run Automatic Scan, cause I've had trouble with it in the past, but probably that's all fixed now so you can go ahead and select that. OR you can click finish, and then select the "Arrested Development" directory and choose "TV Show Information". Either way, you'll be prompted to specify exactly WHICH show this is on thetvdb.com. In other words, you're making the connection between your "Arrested Development" directory, and some data in thetvdb.com. Since there is only one entry for "Arrested Development" on thetvdb.com, choosing should be easy.

Step 4. Now a message should appear and XBMC should begin auto-scanning ("scraping") the "Arrested Development" directory, looking at each episode. Assuming you've got them all named in some form that the scraper can understand (which it looks like you do), it should find them all now (as was mentioned, thetvdb.com was down over the weekend, so this step might not have worked before.)

Step 5. Go into Library mode, and your Arrested Development episodes should be there! (You have excellent taste in comedy shows, btw! Big Grin )
Ok so now it works. I just added each folder separately.

Tanx to everyone.

Xanatos Wrote:You have excellent taste in comedy shows, btw! Big Grin

Haha! Yeah Arrested development and the British IT-crowd must be the best TV-shows ever.
