Full Version: 100% CPU core and hangs when movie playback paused

Hi there

Installation was a breeze, but as soon as I'm hitting the pause button while watching a movie, I'm getting a 100% CPU on the first core (Quad) and can't continue watching. I can go back to the main menu and closing XBMC via the remote (xp MCE) still works, and the desktop (XFCE) continues working as usual (no more hanging processes). Playback via DVI on a HDTV (1920x1080 fullscreen).

I also noticed that initially when starting XBMC, it eats *a lot* of CPU (a full core). Once playback of a movie (standard DVD-Rip) starts, CPU idles at arount 98%.

I'm a total newbie - what information can/should I include in a bug report?

Cheers!
This issue has already been reported.

Please see this thread http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=32159

And this bug report http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/4382
The proposed fixes solved the issue indeed for me. However: It appears that XBMC causes my VMWare Server 2 that runs on the same machine to lock up completely (2 cores maxed out, only rebooting helps).

I switched back to the default configuration and so far, VMWare runs smooth again, but will open a new thread if the error reoccurs with my current default settings.

Cheers and thanks for the fast replies Laugh
