Hi All,
please can we define the best and cheapest working solution
motherboard
for a HD videoplayer with XBMC Live USB stick or
XBMC Live SSD harddisk or CompactFlash to IDE adpater installation
which is also small and has integrated graphics
onboard with HDMI outputs ?

I have looked up a few new MiniITX motherboards and the
best one in this moment seems to be the new
780G chipset based ones like :

http://www.jwele.com/motherboard_detail.php?419

for instance.

As I want to have a small PC which fits into a small case and can
be plugged via HDMI to my LCD TV and I also want to play
a 3D game sometimes, I guess this motherboard is a good solution,
although it is still pretty expensive.

What about the new Atom 330 based motherboards ?
Is there already one with HDMI or DVI outputs ?

The standard Intel Atom 330 motherboard has only
got VGA and S-Video output, but no DVI or HDMI...

Also the integrated graphics is not fast enough for 3D gaming.

So what will be the best solution to fit inside a MiniITX case.
What other MiniITX solutions will you go for and what motherboards
are already 100 % compatibe with the current Beta2 Live solution ?

Many thanks.
These mATX mobos could be a good choice:
Gigabyte 73PVM-S2H
Abit I-N73H or I-N73HD

All mobos equiped with nForce 630i Chipset, integrated NVIDIA GeForce 7100 gpu. HDMI and toslink connectors.

I`m using the Gigabyte with a C2D E8400 (3GHz) and plays 1080p videos perfectly.
That mb looks good but in general you should steer away from ATI as gfx as its not as well supported as intel or nvidia.
The newer intel chipsets arent supported in Live (like g45) but will be in atlantis+1.

Cheers.

So for now it is better to use NVidea graphics chipsets ?

What about the new Nforce 730i chipsets with
Gforce 8300 or Gforce 8400 onboard graphics chipsets ?

Are they too new ?

These are now the fastest integrated onboard motherboard graphics chipsets.
Here is some first test report:
http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardwa...m_digital/

These chipsets are 30 % faster than the new ATI/AMD 790GX
chipsets !
(At least in 3D gaming..as measeured there...)

Regards, Stefan.
yea that's a big bummer as the 780g and the 790gx amd boards are currently the best chipset on the market right now for playing hd content without the need for a graphic card....

Just out of curiousity, what are you using for a case and cpu cooler?

Newegg has the Gigabyte mobo for $69, the E8400 for $164, 2gb corsair for $45, I was looking at the Rosewill R379-SM but the reviews say the case fan is a little loud. Also, do you use a keyboard/mouse, or just an MCE remote?

Thanks!

what would you recommend as the best intel chipset to use?
