Hello everyone,
I don't know whether my question is already answered somewhere in this forum but I didn't find it.
I have a little computer attached to my TV running Linux ubuntu with xbmc. So when I start the computer xbmc automatically starts on full screen. All my data is on a streaming server attached to my network.
The xbmc main menu shows the menu points movies, series, videos and so on. But I am only able to access my videos stored on the server via videos.
To come to my actual questeion: I want that I can access my series stored under server\videos\series a.s.o. via the menu point series and not via videos. The same with the movies.
How can I do that. I know it has to have something to do with the database but I don't know anything about how that works.
So I hope you could help me. Thanks

Dan
Welcome to the forums.

The info you need is conveniently hidden away in our wiki/manual. Search for "library mode" and "scrapers".
thanks a lot
or as a sticky in the how to section:

Hey guys,
I guess I'm a little dumb or something...I did the set content to the main folder as described in the manual.
my folders are like that:
videos/
series/
scrubs/
scrubs - season 1/
scrubs.s01.e02.avi
as an example
but although i did set content and chose a scraper and all that i dont get the series in the series menu properly!
What did i still do wrong?

Dan
you didn't read the links that were provided
i thought i did...most likely i forgot something...dunno...
its not too easy to understand for beginners i guess

i dont know whether i did everything right with the names of my files. didnt understand that names convention properly. is that "foo" just some example or do they all have to be named like that?
Yes "foo" is just an example (meaning you can replace it with anything), again see:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=TV_Shows
on what folder did you set content?
the series folder where all my series are stored in
does it matter that i have my videos stored on a nas?
Well i got it!!
Thanks for all of your help. My mistake wasn't that i named the files wrong or something but i simply didnt knew that i had to go on "new source" in the video menu. i always clicked media and then folder and so on.
But i finally figured it out. Thanks to all of your help again.

Dan
i got one other question though.
when i scanned all my videos into the library there is one series showing up named 1 and it doesnt include any episodes. i dont know where that comes from since i dont have such a series.
Do one of you know where that might come from?
thanks anyways

dan
not really. if you enter the tvshow info screen it will list the associated path
